Explanatory Notes on Main Statistical Indicators
     Total Retail Sales of Consumer Goods refer to the sum of retail sales of consumer goods sold by enterprises (establishments) or individuals in wholesale£¬retail trade£¬accommodations, catering services and other industries of various types of ownership to urban and rural households for living consumption and to social institutions for public consumption.
     Total Purchases of Commodities by Wholesale and Retail Trades refer to the purchases of commodities from other establishments or individuals (including direct import from abroad) for the purpose of reselling£¬either with or without further processing of the commodities purchased This indicator includes the purchases from producers£¬the purchases from wholesale and retail trades£¬imports and other purchasesª± It is used to show the total value of purchases of commodities by wholesale and retail establishments from domestic and overseas markets.
     Total Sales of Commodities by Wholesale and Retail Trades refer to the value of commodities sold to other establishments and individuals (including direct export and commodities sold to the sellers themselves for consumption). This indicator includes the value of wholesale to production and operation units£¬the value of wholesale to wholesale and retail trades£¬exports and retail sales to urban and rural households and social institutions It is an indicator of the total value of sales of commodities at domestic markets and export.
     Wholesale refers to all selling activities of commodities except retail trade£¬including wholesale to production and operation units£¬wholesale to wholesale and retail trades and export.
     Wholesale to Production and Operation Units refers to commodities sold to departments of national economy and social departments for their production and operation.
     Retail Sale refers to the selling of commodities to urban and rural households for living consumption and to social institutions for direct public consumption.
     Total Inventory of Wholesale and Retail Trades at the Year-end refers to the total commodities possessed by wholesale and retail enterprises£¬which reflects the commodity stock level of various wholesale and retail enterprises and the potential for market supply.
     Corporate Units in Wholesale and Retail Trades, Accommodations and Catering Services refer to the number of corporate enterprises of various types of ownership in the wholesale and retail trades, accommodations and catering services with independent accounting systems An enterprise can be called a corporate enterprise only when it simultaneously meets the following requirements:(1)It is established according to law, with its own name£¬organization and location for business operation, as well as the capability to independently assume civil responsibility (2)It owns and uses its assets independently, assumes liabilities and is entitled to sign contracts with other units (3)It has an independent accounting system and is able to compile balance sheets.
     Wholesale Trade refers to the commodity circulation enterprises (establishments) and individuals which purchase commodities from producers in industry and agriculture or from commodity circulation enterprises and individuals for the purpose of reselling them to establishments in industry£¬agriculture£¬construction£¬transportation£¬postal and telecommunications services£¬accommodations and catering services and other services for their production and operation as well as reselling them to other wholesale or retail enterprises.
     Retail Trade refers to the commodity circulation enterprises (establishments) and individuals which purchase commodities from producers in industry and agriculture£¬wholesale trade or residents for the purpose of reselling them to urban and rural households for living consumption and to social institutions for public consumption.
     Hotel Services refers to the enterprises (establishments) and individuals engaged in providing temporary accommodation to customers.
     Catering Services refer to the enterprises (establishments) and individuals engaged in food cooking£¬seasoning and selling food directly to households and social institutions.
