3 National Economic Accounts
Brief Introduction
Ⅰ.The data in this chapter reflect the national accounts of Guangdong Province. Ⅱ. The data on national accounts mainly include gross domestic product (GDP) and related data. Data on GDP are calculated with various approaches in accordance with the features of various sectors, various expenditure structures and the data resources. The GDP figure calculated with the expenditure approach equals the sum of final consumption, total capital formation and net exports of goods and services. The data on GDP with this approach may be unequal to the data on GDP calculated with the approaches mentioned above. There is a statistical discrepancy between the two figures. The data on national accounts by city are provided by the statistical bureaus of various cities. The sum of the city data is not equal to the provincial total due to the decentralized accounting approach. Data on the national accounts of the latest year published in the yearbook are not final and are subject to changes. The GDP data of past years may also be revised on the basis of more detailed basic data obtained during a census year. In 1996, the GDP figures of years prior to 1992 were adjusted in accordance with the result of the first tertiary industry census. In 2005, the GDP figures from 1993 to 2004 were adjusted in accordance with the result of the first national economic census. GDP data of 2006 and 2007 were adjusted in accordance with the result of the second national agricultural census. Data published in this yearbook are adjusted data. Ⅲ. The data in this chapter are prepared and provided by the Division of National Accounts of Statistics Bureau of Guangdong Province.
