4 Population
Brief Introduction
Ⅰ. The data in this chapter show the basic conditions of development and changes of population in Guangdong, including mainly: 1. Permanent population at the year-end, proportion of population by sex, proportion of population by age, proportion of urban population, birth rate, death rate and natural growth rate of population. The data are estimated by Guangdong Provincial Bureau of Statistics on the basis of population censuses, the one percent sample survey on population，or annual sample surveys on population changes.  2. Permanent population at the year-end, birth rate, death rate and natural growth rate of population from 1990 to 2004 result from smooth adjustment on the 2005 national one-percent sample survey on population with the exceptions of 1990 and 2000 data, which are direct estimates from the result of population censuses. Consequently, data of these years are different from those issued in the corresponding years.  3. The total population with residence registration, population by sex, by agricultural and non-agricultural population, and migrant population are obtained from the annual reports of population of Guangdong Provincial Department of Public Security.  Ⅱ. The date in this chapter are prepared and provided by the Division of Population and Employment Statistics of Statistics Bureau of Guangdong Province.
